the art of elegance

the art of simplicity is sometimes harder to master than it would seem, but for men, a clean, classic look done right, is perfection!  this total look is comprised of 5 pieces including accessories and no matter where he's headed, you cant go wrong.  starting with the chinos, every man should own a well fitted pair of khakis.  I prefer this cognac color over the more yellowish shades and the lighter, almost white is good for spring, but have a more casual feel about them.  fit is EVERYTHING!!!!  in all aspects of men's clothing, the fit should be spot on!  depending on his size and stature, you can choose accordingly.  my husband is a larger man and I look for a relaxed straight cut when styling him in both trousers and denim.  someone with Kurt's build can pull off most slimmer styles, think straight leg, fitted slim, or even skinny for the more daring man.  baggy and pleated are definite no nos!!!  a fitted dress shirt is another staple in a men's closet.  depending on profession, he might have a rack full or only a few for special occasions, but truthfully 2-3 tailored button ups can be all he needs to make it through a season.  this is a classic striped shirt with tiny details to make it special.  when trying on, have your man lift his arms to a T and grab the fabric under his arm pit, if you are able to get a handful, he needs to go down a size!!  nothing erks me more than a thin man wearing an oversized dress shirt.  the right fit can do wonders for your figure (yes, you have a figure!  its hiding under all that extra fabric!)  finished off the look with his staple gold and brown accessories; aviators, leather bound watch, and lace up loafers.
"in character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity."
