laced on + tie up

HUMP DAAAAYYY!!! i'm literally screaming this in my head like the giant camel in the office. Wednesday always seems to be the calm in my storm of a life. i never have anything scheduled, and we have church in the evening which just rejuvenates my soul. i wore this dress to a Wednesday night service just a few weeks before Mav was born. its not maternity, i just went up a size. so now that he's out, and my waistline is slowly shrinking down to size, i keep a jacket tied around my waist like 95% of the time. i guess because its almost like a belt in that it cinches you in and you know me, i love to layer!! even in this scorching heat (i know, i can't help myself) one way or another, im gonna add a jacket to my outfits. these lace-up gladiators are the perfect boho sandal for summer and they're gold, so obvi i love them . . . plus, they're under $40!!! so, i have been searching for lace-ups since last summer, but they all seemed to be a little out of my price range and then i spotted these guys and ordered them immediately! the hardest part was limiting myself to only 1 pair, but i still think i will end up getting them in brown just because i know i'll wear them like ALL THE TIME! side note: i also ordered these wannabe birks and they pretty much haven't left my feet since they arrived. finishing off my look with a bright pop of blue are my latest pair of sunglasses from Ditto!! you guys, this endless eyewear program is pretty much the greatest thing that's ever happened to my face (and my wallet). my sunnies obsession is a bit ridic, and being able to swap out whenever i want is totally playing to my weakness! scroll down to snag your free code and prepare to be hooked!!!

oh crap, is it already tuesday?? i guess i should really give up on my monday posts, because they never seem to happen, but c'est la vie, what can you do? I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!! it has been crazy stupid hot here; im talking, almost too hot for the pool hot!! (almost!) I did make it out a time or two, but only to soak in the shade for fear of frying my ghostly white skin. (don't let this tan fool you ladies, I am crispier than casper. I get my tan from a bottle and even then im barely in the normal to pale category.) since keeping a tan requires maintenance, I spend a lot of time in jeans on my in between days. if you spray tan, you know what im talking about. its those days where the tan starts to rub off and you require a good exfoliation and full day of healing before reapplying. so for those days I wear white. because it's the only color that's lighter than me ;) honestly though, I have been living in all white everything lately! I can't get enough and when i'm not wearing white its blush, grey or chambray and a bit of black. pretty much a muted palate, which is somewhat out of character for me and definitely not ideal for a mom of 3 boys, but hey, what's 1 more pile of laundry? since im always on the go, I need easy items that wash and wear and allow easy access to the goods. mav is a manchild and he needs to eat every 2 hours or you'd swear a rabid beast has taken over his body and there's no pacifying him until milk is served! for this reason, I always have a muslin blanket on hand, or this shawl!! because of the heat, traditional blankets are out of the question and those nursing cover cape things are too hideous and way too obvious. I prefer a more subtle chic approach to nursing and no one ever even notices. this poncho, shawl, wrap, whatever you want to call it, has come in handy time and again. ive used it as a blanket and nursing cover or just worn it as a wrap on the rare occasion I don't have a starving child in my arms. I love the snaps so you don't have to worry about it falling off when you are nursing and then my favorite way to wear it is slung over my shoulders in a haphazard sort of way. why have I never owned a shawl before?? i feel like such a grown up!! and yes, i realize i'm thirty, but adulthood is just a frame of mind, and my mind is barely pushing 12. have a great day ladies!!

a day late and a dollar short, that's how life feels these days. totally planned on having this post up yesterday, but much like everything else, life got in the way and work got put on the back burner. I honestly don't know how these women do it!! 3 kids has totally rocked my world, and while i'm loving every minute of it, the ocd side of me is having a hard time adjusting to the chaos. In addition to the never-ending to-do list, my memory is shot. mommy brain is real people! I am constantly setting reminders and jotting down notes so I don't forget the big stuff, like the fact that today is my birthday! we don't really need to talk about it, because i'm slightly in denial, but if it weren't for social media and the big flashing alarm on my phone, this day would've totally slipped past me. well, that and a mother-in-law who baked me a cake and helpfully reminded her son (ie my hubby) to buy me a card. so needless to say, there will be no big celebration, which is fine by me, because if we don't acknowledge it, it never happened, right?? what DID happen, was a lovely stroll with my baby babe down the battery through the streets south of broad to spot all the pretty window boxes. if you live in Charleston, you know you're guilty too, and who could blame us? I wonder what the owners of these houses must think? are they flattered? I would be! but they probably think we're all a bunch of crazies who should just go and plant their own flowers to snap pics of. which, ps, I totally did over the weekend and shocker (not really) they've pretty much all died already. what can I say, i forgot to water them. ironic? ok ok, I know you don't visit to read my babble.

this dress! it's been on repeat. reasons? a. its a nursing style and mav literally eats every hour, sooo easy access is a must b. i love a body-con midi because they accentuate and flatter my newly developed curves (flaunt it while you got it ladies ;)) c. stripes, need I say more? everything striped is all I want right now! they're the perfect basic and mix with every other print to perfection! still on the classic kick, I kept it pretty simple with a denim jacket, mules, and dainty jewels. this fold-over clutch is always in my tote for a quick switch out and it pairs so perfectly with these tortoise sunnies from my endless subscription! who knew i was so basic?

ok, so obviously today's look is a bit more relaxed than what you've grown accustomed to seeing me in, but i'm thinking you're just gonna have to get used to it, because my heels are few and far between at the moment. 1 in stilettos? totally manageable. 2? tricky but still doable. 3?? . . . . . I mean, seriously?? unless we're going to church or lots of extra arms are around, it's the flats life for me. between nursing this babe, chasing after my psycho 2 year old and keeping up with my ultra-inquisitive 4 year old, this momma is wore slap out!!! and yes, I realize that sounds very southern of me to say, but I have 3 impressionable pairs of ears now, so i'm trying to subdue my yankee sass and learn from these good ole belles down south who put everything so eloquently. truly, they can make pooping your pants sound like you just found a pot of gold in your britches. and if I hear "bless your heart" one more time, I swear. (in case you're unaware, that's the lowest of blows a woman can receive. they might be blessing you, but it's not in the Christian way I assure you) but I digress, let's talk fashion shall we?? like I said, I've been rocking a slightly modified version of fashion these days, so today's look is all about the mommy uniform. I basically live in this world where fashion meets comfort. I could never be one of those women that runs around in yoga pants and a ratty t-shirt all day. i'm sure it would make life easier, but I have way too much pride and a definite overdose of vanity, to truly embrace "bumming it", so this my friends, is my version of dressed down. I like my mommy outfits to be versatile, durable, and most importantly, washable! the first element will most likely include some form of a bf, whether it be jeans or shorts depends on the weather and if I've had a chance to spray on a tan or not. these boyfriends are my newest addition to the fam, and I am pretty obsessed. well, obsessed might be an understatement, because I have pretty much lived in them because A. they're ridiculously comfortable B. they're splattered with paint which means sticky fingers and juice stains are welcome and only add to the color palate, and C. because i'm a mom and it's totally socially acceptable for you to wear the same thing for a week straight. but seriously you guys, mom or not, these pants are the bomb.com. the second element of any good mom uniform is a blousy top. but think cotton, definitely not silk!! i'm a big fan of graphic tees and button downs, and I live for the sloppy tuck. it's basically a haphazard way of slipping the front part of your shirt into your pants to show that you have a waist band while simultaneously hiding your pooch. this top is actually a true "nursing blouse" if you can believe that, and from the pin tuck to the flutter sleeve, it's pretty much perfect for every summer occasion, nursing or not. ok, so the third element is obvious with a great pair of flats. if you follow my insta, you know I love some good kicks, but the summer is all about sandals! I have already accumulated like 10 new pair (it's becoming a problem) but I'm loving the slip on style for grab and go and these guys are uber cheap. lastly, and most importantly in my book, every mom uniform needs accessories!! for me that means, sunnies, lipstick, and arm candy overkill!! bangles are my bauble of choice and I have been rockin some serious stacks lately. I think it's my way of coping with the lack of height.
