shades of grey

oh crap, is it already tuesday?? i guess i should really give up on my monday posts, because they never seem to happen, but c'est la vie, what can you do?  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!  it has been crazy stupid hot here; im talking, almost too hot for the pool hot!! (almost!)  I did make it out a time or two, but only to soak in the shade for fear of frying my ghostly white skin.  (don't let this tan fool you ladies, I am crispier than casper.  I get my tan from a bottle and even then im barely in the normal to pale category.)  since keeping a tan requires maintenance, I spend a lot of time in jeans on my in between days.  if you spray tan, you know what im talking about.  its those days where the tan starts to rub off and you require a good exfoliation and full day of healing before reapplying.  so for those days I wear white.  because it's the only color that's lighter than me ;)  honestly though, I have been living in all white everything lately!  I can't get enough and when i'm not wearing white its blush, grey or chambray and a bit of black.  pretty much a muted palate, which is somewhat out of character for me and definitely not ideal for a mom of 3 boys, but hey, what's 1 more pile of laundry?  since im always on the go, I need easy items that wash and wear and allow easy access to the goods.  mav is a manchild and he needs to eat every 2 hours or you'd swear a rabid beast has taken over his body and there's no pacifying him until milk is served!  for this reason, I always have a muslin blanket on hand, or this shawl!!  because of the heat, traditional blankets are out of the question and those nursing cover cape things are too hideous and way too obvious.  I prefer a more subtle chic approach to nursing and no one ever even notices.  this poncho, shawl, wrap, whatever you want to call it, has come in handy time and again.  ive used it as a blanket and nursing cover or just worn it as a wrap on the rare occasion I don't have a starving child in my arms.  I love the snaps so you don't have to worry about it falling off when you are nursing and then my favorite way to wear it is slung over my shoulders in a haphazard sort of way.  why have I never owned a shawl before??  i feel like such a grown up!!  and yes, i realize i'm thirty, but adulthood is just a frame of mind, and my mind is barely pushing 12.  have a great day ladies!!

love thy neighbor

wouldn't it be a beautiful world if everyone followed this seemingly simple commandment?  love thy neighbor, well my next door neighbors are my in-laws and I certainly love them for raising the incredible man I call hubby and for being amazing grandparents to my 3 boys (seriously you guys, I know most people complain about their in-laws, but I pretty much hit the jackpot when it comes to mine)  and growing up I had a pretty special lady as my neighbor who happens to be staying with me for the week, so I can easily say I have an abundance of love for her.  but if we take a less literal approach to this verse, how often do we really love our "neighbor"?  do we "love" the guy who steals our expecting mothers parking spot?  or how about the woman with a 12 year old and an oversize handbag who snatches the last double-seater cart at target, are we feeling the love for her?  i'd obviously be lying if I said yes, so on an honest note, NO!  i'm not exactly bursting with love for the selfish people who aggravate my day.  but having young, impressionable ears around has made me more aware of how I handle these types of morons err people and this verse always comes to mind.  love them, they might have had a rough day; love them, they might be going through something; love them, they might truly be that ignorant and know no better.  it can be a hard task to tackle, but I have to tell you, life is so much easier when you leave the hatin to the haters and spread a little love!!  so the next time the teeny-boppers spill their Frappuccino and decide to steal yours to replace it, leaving you to wait 10 minutes for the barista who's so obviously ignoring you to have her make you another while your 3 kids are screaming because they're squeezed into a single cart and everyone else has a coffee (decaf, don't judge me) but them, just smile and send those loving vibes their way.  they clearly need it!!

back to white

good morning mamacitas!!!  the weather is warm, the week is new, it is going to be a happy happy Monday!!
ok, so not that I ever quit wearing white, but with Spring officially starting on Friday, I feel it is totally important to bust out your white jeans in celebration!!!!!  I kinda went all out with a little white on white action today, but monochromatic dressing is suppose to be slimming, right??  perhaps not when you're smuggling a 10lb watermelon under your shirt, but it was worth a shot.  I have been so in love with black and white everything lately.  maybe its just the hormones, maybe its the instant chic appeal, but I can't get enough!!  so I paired my all white ensemble with this killer vintage tuxedo blazer that im currently obsessed with!  i love a long blazer and the satin detailing is pretty much spot on, so I apologize ahead of time if you see this guy everyday for the next 6 months.  bangles and a bump to accessorize my look and for the piece de resistance, this beyond gorg Hayden Harnett "margaux" tote!!!!  i mean, i have been staring at this baby since the moment she arrived at my door.  the winged sides, the cross body, the SNAKE!!  i can't even, this bag has stolen my heart!!  while i get high on the fresh leather fumes, y'all enjoy your day!!
