thru the looking glass

I can't believe this is my last official CFW look and i'm so sad about it!  I know, I know, fashion week was over a month ago and it seems like its taken me forever to break down my outfits, but I was trying to savor the moment.  this look comes from my Thursday morning, which included brunch and a style challenge with Belk.  this dress felt was the perfect shift for a rainy day of running around.  I absolutely love the geometric/shattered glass print down the front and the slit pocket hit just below the belly making for a comfortable resting spot.  I kept the palate clean by pairing my white sandals and Lucite sunnies and pulled out some turquoise in my jewels, but the real show-stopper was this neon clutch from Taxidermy.  I mean, does it get any cooler than chartreuse python?  i pretty much need every bag from this collection to make its way into my closet (hint hint).  if i caught you staring at my head thinking, did she do something different with her hair??  why yes, thank you!  i went a little lighter and grew out the bangs, thanks for noticing ;).  ok, ok, i went a little cray on the hair.  i pulled inspiration from the runway for this triple messy bun look and considering it poured rain most of the day, it worked in my favor.  throughout all of CFW i tried different looks with my hair because well, duh, its fun!!  and i actually am pretty creative with my hair on a daily basis, especially now that i have some length back, but for versatility purposes, i style it down for shoot days.  (yes ladies, spoiler alert, i shoot multiple blog looks at a time.  i wish i was able to go out everyday and shoot my outfits, but with 3 munchkins at home that's just not feasible)  but i do hope you enjoyed the fun styles i shared during fashion week, and honestly, as crazy as it might look, this one was my fave!

backless boho

the heat has in no way vanished, and summer is still very much upon us, but the fall fashions all over IG have me a little envious so I pulled my favorite skinnies out of the closet and took them for a spin, (a bit prematurely) and it was back to cutoffs for the rest of the weekend.  hopefully all this rain will cool things off and I can start wearing all the fun trends I've been accumulating for fall.  feeling very much caught in the middle of these 2 seasons, i stuck to my boho roots and paired my aged AG's with fun ikat printed tank.  the colors aren't particularly meant for any specific season, so i can definitely see myself layering on a chunky wrap come winter and switching out my flops for booties.  truly the entire inspiration for this look, and the reason for purchasing this tank, was to wear it with this aztec cross necklace!!  i just love the way the purple pulls into the print and after attending Betsy's trunk show, her designs have become my latest obsession.  if you get a chance, be sure to check out her etsy shop, or check her out on insta to see what local boutiques might carry her line.  i had such a difficult time choosing which should be my first and ultimately went with "the Carla" in this purple hue.  i also love her arrowhead designs, and of course, you can never go wrong with a tassel.

country blues

i hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend!!  I got some much needed rest and enjoyed a quiet weekend in the country!  my apologies for the sporadic posts lately, but im back on track and slowly (like turtle speed) transitioning into fall.  for those of you who were unaware, summer still has 3 weeks left, so lets not get ahead of ourselves and totally make the switch!  I have definitely started accumulating quite a few pieces and pulled some of my favorites out to put back in rotation, but light layers are still a must in this crazy heat.  I always love a blazer and tee combo, whether it be basic or graphic, its just an easy look that's cool and crisp and can take me almost anywhere.  I had an easy day of agendas with the kids, so I paired this white on white combo with cutoffs and gold flats.  I added the slightest pop of pink with this clutch a few simple gold accessories.  this is definitely a look I have on repeat year round, switching out my shorts for jeans and a bootie in place of the flats as the weather cools off.
how are you transitioning to fall and still beating the heat?

the simple life

i know i pride myself on being a big city girl, and trust me, those bright lights will never stop calling my name, but there is something to be said for the beauty and appeal of a small town life. the skies are blue, the grass is green and you can literally see miles and miles of God's creation, untainted, in all its glory.  this is where most weekends of ours are spent, enjoying the simple life, and the more i go, the more i never want to leave.  for obvious reasons, my style always turns toward bohemian.  I've worn this outfit for multiple occasions, but it seems to fit best in the boro.  i just love this top and the way it falls so perfectly and it lightens up the leopard shorts giving them a more feminine feel.  i hope you have a fabulous Monday!!  take a minute to take a deep breath and enjoy the day, tomorrow will be here soon enough.
