slap on a bib and call me a pilgrim

Good Evening!!  How was everyone's weekend?  Did y'all stay warm?  We woke up to snow on the cars Saturday morning which was pretty freaking exciting if you ask me.  It would have been more awesome if it actually stuck, but, hey, beggars can't be choosers, right??  so, to say our carolina weather has been fickle would be the understatement of the year, but i have been enjoying these brisker days, if only for the excuse to pile on some layers.  today's look is all about that too hot for the colony, pilgrim chic.  this was one of those outfits that fell together so gloriously that i had to make a moment of it.  breaking it down in order of compilation; i finally bit the bullet and ordered these otk boots (such a steal, bee tee dubs) and was dying to style them with a little mini, and then the perfect one came in the mail from Tres Carmen!!  fashion happenstance numero uno!!  then, i was thinking, how do i play in to the preppiness of the plaid?  in comes happenstance numero dos!  i have been on the hunt for the perfect white shirt for like ever.  seriously though, forever!  who knew it was so hard to find a crisp button down?  well, truthfully, i've found plenty, but the price was never quite right, but this one finally hit the bill and i sized up so i can style it both tucked and un.  my jacket was another happy coincidence, because it was already sitting happily in my closet which means i didn't have to spend a dime, and it took me from hit me baby to its britney (you know who) .  i topped it off with this hat (also already perched smiling down on me from the shelves of my walk-in) and i thought, this is a pretty solid outfit.  the only thing that was missing, was some sort of necklace to tie it all together.  i have been loving the long scarf trend, have you seen this??  i thought it was a potential possibility, but then i remembered seeing this glorious bow bib at M&L and it was like the fashion epiphone of the century!!  ok, not really, but if i was a cartoon character (and who's to say i'm not) big flashing fashion light bulbs were lighting up the top of my head like the vegas strip.  the final piece de resistance was this giant, double chain, drool-worthy python tote that really steals the show of any outfit and puts the Karl Lagerfeld stamp of approval on my whole look.  i mean, i didn't actually go anywhere, except for to meet my photographer and make sure this outfit went down in fashion blogger photo history, but i kind of think its pretty major, don't you?? thanks for stopping by babes, hope you have a fab week!!

t minus 1 hour until the eve of the most magical day of the entire year!!  on the real, tho; we still don't have a tree, i haven't wrapped a single thing and it's suppose to be in the 80's so i'm really not feeling quote unquote "in the spirit".  fa la lallalallalala what a week/month/year it has been!!!  all you mom's out there who do it all and have it all and show up decked to the nines with bells on and a chip cheerio smile on your face . . . . i salute you!!!  i DO NOT know how you do it!  i work(ish) from home, i only have 1 child in school and it's only pre-school so there's no real home work or extra-curricular activities, i don't exercise or cook and i barely keep a tidy home but somehow, i feel exhausted 99% of the time and i'm always in shambles.  being a grown up is HARD!  ok, so regardless of my disaster of a home, i love this time of year so very very much!!  and now that i have kids, it brings me even more excitement to see the thrill in their eyes through the holiday season.  the bright lights, the hot chocolate, the presents, just all of it!!!  and the parties of course!!  any reason to get dressed up is a reason to get excited.  and yea, i know i've said it a zillion times, im not a dress girl, im not a dress girl, blah blah blah, i'm such a hypocrite, because over the next few weeks im totally going to be spamming you with dresses!!  like a lot, alot alot of dresses.  i don't know how to explain myself, maybe i've turned a corner?  maybe designers have just really been on point when it comes to their dress game?  maybe im just lazy, and dresses are a no-brainer?  whatever the reason, there's some really good stuff coming, i promise you!  and to kick it off, i give you what can only be described as the most christmassy of christmas dresses ever.  well, for me anyways.  because, not only am i NOT a dress girl, i'm also not a RED DRESS girl.  like ever.  i don't know if even own anything red in my entire wardrobe.  i love red.  my nails are always red.  my favorite shoes and accessories are red.  but for whatever reason, wearing red is not something i've ever considered a necessity.  until now that is.  today it is very necessary for me to be wearing this amazingly perfect red dress.  and dancing and twirling in the street.  that also seems very necessary right now.  ok yea, i think i finally found that Christmas spirit i've been missing. Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!!  HALLELUJAH!!!!  i hope you guys all have the most amazing Christmas EVER!!!!!!

Good Afternoon Chicas!!!  I hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend!  we are back from vacay, but the never-ending pile of laundry has me dreaming of mocktails under the palm trees.  it's already noon and I still haven't put on real clothes or unpacked a single thing, so i'd say i'm making progress, no?  I plan on burying myself in work (and I use the term loosely) for the rest of the day and ignoring the explosion of luggage in our kitchen.  so lets discuss this quote unquote work that I speak of.  "blogger" is technically my job title, but creatively I consider myself a stylist.  styling is where my love affair with fashion started and it is the main reason behind my blog.  when I first started in retail, dressing the mannequins was my favorite!  I would give them names, give them personalities, basically create my very own plastic girl group.  nowadays I really only get to style myself and as fun as that is, I miss that human contact.  sorry, I should mention, I styled breathing human beings as well, but the plastic ones were still my favorite ;).  my job as blogger has awarded me some amazing opportunities, some of them have even allowed me to put back on the stylist cap, and 2 weeks ago I got to do just that with my favorite subject, Men's Fashion!!  some of you may remember my Man Candy Monday series??  I really think I need to bring that back.  anyways, 2 weeks ago, Belk put some serious faith in me, and gave me the most amazing opportunity to style their Men's Fall Lookbook.  unfortunately there were no hot models for me to work with, which was probably best for their HR department (I don't know if you know this about me, but im extremely inappropriate and lack the ability to filter what might come out of my mouth.  I'm not currently seeking help, but I acknowledge that I have a problem).  I can't wait to share all the style statements with you guys and show you my looks, but for now you will have to wait and enjoy these women's fashions from Belk that I styled on myself.

this pink dress is a lot of, well, pink!  when I style myself in something so full of color, my first thought is always, how can I break this up?  I love head to toe monochromatic if its separates, but in the case of one item head to toe, whether it be a jumper or a dress, I like to add intrigue to the look by adding layers.  everyone can throw on a dress right?  this is my inner struggle.  I feel like if I just throw on a dress and heels, all that I've shown you is a dress and heels.  not that there's anything wrong with that, its just that I haven't inspired anything for you.  I'm not showing you a look, i'm showing you a dress.  with this dress, the options are endless.  its essentially a big blank pink slate, so you can style it 100 different ways and never wear the same look twice.  jackets are always my favorite layer and I have worn this dress (and just about every other dress that I own) with a denim jacket tied around at my waist.  I don't know why i'm really into that right now.  remember last summer when it was a bit of a debate??  well it was a definite YES for the win, but in an effort to show you a bit of diversity, I wore an actual belt this time, and instead of tying the sleeves around my waist, I put my arms through them.  I love how tough meets pretty with this moto leather and sheer pink.  I added a few delicate accessories and my floral single straps to complete the look.  love you ladies for following along, have a great week!!

peplum pleats

good morning lovies!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!  ours have been filled with renovations which means, the house is constantly filled with dust, which means, im usually sporting a mop or a vacuum and cleaning what will inevitably be dirty again within the hour.  but I don't mind, because I am so excited to see how much progress has been made, and finger crossed, our master bath and closet will be completed before baby m's arrival.  speaking of the little guy, he is out and about in full force these days!  i can no longer see my feet and strapping on heels is an exhausting task (one that i refuse to give up) but i am determined to stay fab until the end of this pregnancy!  with only 7 weeks left, i have resorted to reworking items in my closet.  i plan to make a few purchases once the weather agrees with me, but with winter hopefully coming to an end, i hate to invest in pieces that won't get much wear.  so with that said, today is a full on shop your closet outfit with pieces you've seen a time or two before.  a growing bump means shirts no longer fit like they should, which is the case with this embellished peplum.  because a peplum generally requires a waistline which i no longer can find, i tucked it into a pleated midi skirt and layered on my fave vintage blazer.  to show some semblance of a separation between bump and chest, i belted it with my leopard skinny.  and sorry if you're sick of these pumps by now, but i am so not so i strapped them on for a much needed dose of black and gold to tie the whole look together.

like most of my outfits these days, this look has been on heavy rotation.  in part because this winter has been never ending, but mainly because its one of the few outfits I have left that still fits and doesn't make me look massively pregnant.  plaid is always an easy throw on for me and the baggier the better.  I bought this one a few sizes too big to give it that bf feel and the bleaching makes it extra grungy.  I paired it with basic skinnies and my go-to moto and to beat the chill (and cover my roots) threw on a beanie.  the leopard booties always get a lot of play this time of year because you can't beat the comfort of a wedge and I mean, every outfit needs a little leopard.  my lips match my sunnies to perfection thanks to Kismet!!  i love the berrylicious hue don't you?  im seriously obsessed with these lipsticks you guys, and Vivianna has been my shade of the season.
