good morning-ish!! this rain has got me all sorts of slow today, but i'm super excited about today's post, cuz it's a good one!!
i had the amazing privilege of attending this year's MUSC "raise the runway" luncheon benefitting the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. what i wasn't prepared for was the incredible kids who rocked the runway and shared their stories of how MUSC saved their lives. so, of course, i cried, because my son happens to be a survivor himself, and it's all due to the incredible team at MUSC. if you have a chance to go next year, i strongly suggest it, it was so moving and who doesn't love cute kids on the catwalk??
so, for my look, i got super lucky because i just so happen to have friends in high places, and by high places, i mean The Finicky Filly. like i said last week, i was a wreck running around and scrambling for outfits for the week, so with no time to spare, my girl Toni pulled this Milly dress for me thinking it might just work, and boy did it deliver!! i was truly skeptical, as i don't do strapless. seriously though, i don't, like ever. and if i ever was to do strapless, i would probably throw a jacket over top, just to make myself feel more comfortable. i also don't find myself wearing dresses very often and again, if i do, i layer it up, so this dress was a bit of a risk for me, but the reward was so very great. i can honestly say, i fall in more in love every time i look at it. i just love every single detail. the poppy hue, the thick band, the flowy shape, the pleated back, the pockets, the EVERYTHING!! it's such a winner on so many levels. so, again, lucky me, the girls at FF are so great, and they helped me pull this look together with this ridiculously awesome bolero by Mignonne Gavigan, her collection you guys, insane!! i have some super fun earrings coming up later in the week, just you wait!! this Taxidermy antler clutch gave the perfect subtle print and it's actually the same one seen in last week's post, because it's double-sided!! what what!! basically 2 clutches for the price of 1, total bargain!! ;) i don't know what else to say, i want to be back in this dress like now, i felt like a million bucks!!
