a cinderella story

this past weekend i was blessed with the opportunity to volunteer at an AMAZing event called "Cinderella Day"
held at the North Charleston Dream Center, girls from all over Charleston and its surrounding cities were invited to come out and literally get the "princess" treatment for the day
from the braid and bun bar to the beauty bus to the glam cam and the real life beauty queens, this was really quite a day of pampering
the view upon arrival, was an overwhelming one!  i knew there would be a large turnout, but i was not prepared for the hundreds of girls lined up ready to go at 8am! (some of them having been there since 4)
there was food provided by Southside 17 Bar and Grill and Charleston Gourmet Burger Company and cupcakes from Cupcake!! (because what event is complete without cupcake's cupcakes?)a braid and bun bar full of stylists from Paul Mitchell, and Vanity Salon's beauty bus!! (who knew that was a thing??)
upon entering the building, each girl was partnered up with a personal shopper (my designated area of expertise) and given the opportunity to shop the dress boutique that was filled with racks upon racks of donated dresses!!
next stop, the shoe closet complete with a full shipment from Chinese Laundry
and on to accessories including donations from Southern Bling and styleXchange
there were also alterations and steamers on hand to make sure every girl went home with the perfectly fitted and pressed dress!!
and a goody bag to boot filled with vouchers to get ready for the day of prom along with their perfect shade of polish from OPI!!
in total, 300 girls went home fully dressed for their prom/formal entirely for FREE!!!!!
my personal favorite spot of the day, was the professional photo booth!!
Jenn Cady, a nationally recognized photographer, donated her day to giving the girls their model moment!
complete with the glam fan and mood lighting, i had to get in on the action!!
this woman literally makes you look ten years younger and 20lbs lighter by teaching you how to pose and purse those lips just right!!
as there was over 600 guests in attendance, the volunteers did an awesome job of getting every girl involved and making the whole process an enjoyable one! (even while waiting in the cold rain!)
next year is sure to be even more successful and glamorous!!
"she is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future"

special thanks to all the volunteers and the beautiful girls who allowed me to style them!!
please feel free to visit the GoFundMe site and donate for next year!!
