it is officially fall which means, denim season is in full swing! every girl and guy for that matter, should have at least 1 pair of their perfect fitting jean!! but, with so many brands and styles it can be a bit overwhelming to find your perfect fit, which is why I say stick with the basics. access your needs, evaluate your body, and TRY ON!! think about what your day entails and how you style yourself. don't worry about the trends, wear what makes sense to you, so be it bootcut, flare, skinny, make it your staple. now think about your body, are you curvy, straight, tall, petite, etc. these are key ingredients to the perfect jean because you need to know if you want stretch, rigid, low-cut, high-waist, cropped, etc. for me, I factor in that im running around all day with kids, bending over a lot, so I definitely want comfort without sacrificing style and I know that I have long legs and a booty so I need stretch with at least a mid rise and i like a super skinny fit. i have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to denim, but my top 3 are; length: this is why you go to a tailor and have them shortened appropriately!! if you're wearing anything other than a skinny, your hem should just touch the sole of your shoe, not drag and fray a mile behind you! break: and by this i'm referring to your knee break. this is especially noticeable on bootcut, the jean fitted through the thigh and break AT THE KNEE!! not halfway down your calf or midway up your thigh. lastly fit: this is why you try on!! your jeans should fit! not be baggy, not be painted on, but fit to perfection. a little sizing trick is to take your pant size and add 22, so if your a size 6 dress slacks you should wear a 28 in denim. i know this seems like a lot to take in, but i promise you, once you find your fit, it will change your world! and if you need help, don't be afraid to ask. find a denim specialist in your area, most department stores have a knowledgeable stylist who can fit all your needs.
