Double Buckle Chambray

since when is 28 sooo OLD??
ill tell you when!!
when your baby nieces hit puberty and no longer find you and your quippy humor "HOT"
im soooo yesteryear :(
ahhhh, adolescence . . . . .thank goodness my boys are still babies and mommies the hippest girl on the block!
well this auntie may not be cool, but shes got style (and that's really all that matters in my world!)
so while kickin it country with my little hateraters, we golfcarted our way to visit the horses and breath in that sweet southern sky!
slow it down and enjoy your day!

are ya achin'

I always say, "embrace your surroundings"
so on Saturday,
I really took my own advice to heart and fully committed to a day on the farm.
after waking up at 4am (no, that's not a typo),
we pulled up to a field full of pickup trucks and good ole boys
enjoyed a very hearty southern style breakfast (the grits alone will add 5lbs to your waistline)
and then took to the task at hand
the days schedule entailed the butchering of 7 hogs
Ill spare you all the details, but the general process includes: killing/cleaning/gutting/processing

I really thought it would be more traumatizing and I was totally prepared to come home a vegetarian, but it actually just made me respect this way of life that much more and I am totally down to start "livin off the land"

i am incredibly grateful for the experience, and all the wonderful folks i met!
we literally, brought home the bacon!

due to wednesdays sequence of events,
we laid low for the day only venturing out last night to visit thomas at barnes and noble
if it were up to the hubs, our children would live in a bubble, be homeschooled, and never leave our site until they were old enough to move into a retirement community
i say, let them live, let them learn, let them be young!
phoenix seems to have rebounded quite well!
ever the photobomber, squeezed his way into most of my shots!
since i spent most of my day around the house, it was an eyeliner/lip gloss kinda day
don't u wish you could just wake up done up??
or just be one of those naturally flawless girls with their bed head and milky complexions!
this girl is nothing but freckles and frizz
easy layers and comfort was my objective of the day!
embrace your flaws, uniqueness is beauty!!

A hunting we will go . . . . .

what started out as a typical Wednesday in mommyland
turned into my very first (as a mom), and ever so scary, trip to the ER
lets start from the top, shall we??
the only appointment on my schedule was Linc's 6 month checkup with the pediatrician
(mind you he is now 8 months, but my dr is in high demand!!)
everything went super smooth
my chunkers is a healthy happy boy, right on track in his development!
I now had the rest of the day to do as we pleased and since my boys were dressed oh so snazzy,
and I was in my coordinated attire (mind you, we usually ARE quite matchy matchy!)
I thought it best we head outside and snap some photos!!
(any excuse for a photo op, they don't stay little and willing for long)
I was feeling super safari chic in my utility vest and tried to find a landscape fit for the hunt!

all was going as planned . . the tripod was cooperating, Nix was running around finding rocks and sticks, Linc was trying to eat any and everything he could get in his mouth, and I was a happy momma!!
until . . . . I hear screaming!!  and not the whiny, frustrated, i'm not getting my way scream, (i'm quite familiar with that one)
more like the petrified, blood curdling, raise the tiny hairs on the back of your neck screaming!
my poor phoenix had trampled onto a yellow jackets nest and they had him surrounded
adrenaline pumping, I started ripping his clothes off, beating the biters off of him, but they just kept swarming and stinging him . . . . the poor kid was traumatized.
luckily, Lincoln was far enough away in the grass, they didn't get to him.
one emergency room visit later, my boy is a little puffy, totally drowsy from the Benadryl,
and happy as a clam with his Starbucks (cream based/no coffee) Frappuccino
and a bam bam sticker (band aid) from the doctor
